Let us address the elephant in the room. The answer to, "Why does an Electrical Engineer have this website!?" is
simply
that I'm pivoting my career into doing things that best fit how I can happily excel in the world. I'm always open to
learning new things afterall. I'm excited to pivot into the Software world.
The domain name has a slightly interesting story. During my brainstorm of what kind of website to practice
building first, I decided on using JavaScript to write a site that I could hold an online garage sale with. I picked
a name that could reference money and I combined it with one of my favorite pets names.
(Side note: Monkey is named so because
he
has an unusually long tail that he
wraps
around your arm when you hold him.) The selling site was quickly dropped because I had to move and ended up
donating what was going to be sold. So in the name of recycling! Monkey became the mascot of the site that would be
written with Python to
advertise my growing profile.
In my free time I like to travel domestically to visit zoos, national parks, or places where movies were
filmed. My albums, currently a work in progress, show all the places I've been. They also feature a little travel
companion I have that is
very photogenic. Her name is Squirteloo and she is actually a representative for my real pet box turtle. As the
story
goes, she's actually the traveler, I'm just along for
incidentals. Anyway, the travel goal is to visit each state in the country at least once. I've been keeping track on
this
Map. There's still many miles to
cover.
I enjoy doing anything outdoors especially camping,
kayaking, and trail biking. If I have to stay home, I keep myself entertained with baking new recipes,
sewing new costumes, knitting beanies, and gardening.
What's currently on my TO-DO List:
Knit my cat a mini couch for napping and knit my turtle a King Koopa shell cover. Reason: I find it hilarious.
Build a Hydroponic vegetable garden to transfer 3 existing tomato plants into. Reason: I only have 2 measly
viable tomatoes growing in potted soil and I think I'm doing it wrong! I have no yard too.
Build a motion sensor activated alert system that yells, "Turn the light off!", whenever
someone walks away and
leaves the kitchen light on. Reason: It's killing me softly every time Monkey leaves it
on for no reason what.so.ever.
